Grants and Strategic Initiatives

The Foundation provides support in the four program areas in which Senator Jackson was most active: International Affairs, Environment and Natural Resources, Public Service, and Human Rights.

The Foundation provides support in the following ways:

Support of faculty positions, graduate fellowships, and programs at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies and other schools at the University of Washington.

Strategic Initiatives, which include forums, conferences, and other public programs, are generally invited by the Foundation and developed as partnerships between the Foundation and regional, national and international organizations.

The Foundation also offers a limited number of small grants in the four program areas–please contact us for more information.

 

International Affairs Education

The Foundation is most active in International Affairs Education through its partnership with The Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies and other schools  at the University of Washington.  The Foundation supports graduate-level fellowships.

Environment and Natural Resources Management

The Foundation primarily engages in strategic initiatives in this area. Our recent emphasis is on climate change and national security, energy resources, and environmental stewardship education.

Public Service

The Foundation engages in Strategic Initiatives in its Public Service Program, primarily focusing on civic engagement initiatives and the promotion of civil discourse at the local and national level.

Human Rights

The Foundation seeks partners for programs that advance the development and defense of civil society, rule of law, and democratic institutions, with a special emphasis on minority rights, xenophobia, and supporting democratic movements globally.
